About Career Chat Café

Welcome to the Career Chat Café!

As the spouse of a military service member, I have experienced numerous job and career transitions. With a move every 2 1/2 – 3 years, I understand the challenges of changing a career and going through the roller coaster ride of the job search.

Becoming a Career Coach was a matter of happenstance, when an opportunity presented itself and I jumped at it! As I worked with other military spouses, helping them understand the job search process, encouraging them to persevere despite their frustrations, I discovered my calling to help others find their career path.

I have prepared service members for adjusting to the civilian job culture when leaving the military, coached military spouses who found themselves in new places and felt lost, and advised college students trying to find their way after graduation. Since I have been through the challenges of moving to a new location, not having any friends, and unsure of the available jobs, I can relate to each of my clients.

Along the way, I have earned my credentials in coaching:

  • Certified Professional Career Coach (CPCC)
  • Certified Professional Resume Writer (CPRW)
  • Certified Employment Interview Professional (CEIP)
  • Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF)
  • Job and Career Transition Coach (JCTC)
  • Certified Career and Education Adviser (CEA)

Enjoy the information and I hope you find some career guidance that propels you to succeed in your career/job search.

  1. Thanks for mentioning my article on volunteering. I enjoyed this article and like your comment about writing your career goals in pencil, setting obtainable benchmarks, and readjusting your expectations if needed.
